Did Bill Clinton cause the housing meltdown?
BusinessWeek bashes the Clinton administrations use of creative public policy to ramp-up homeownership numbers.
The article makes for an interesting read.
Who do you call?
A reader sent an email asking if I know of any directories listing the names of defunct title companies and their title underwriters. The list would enable anyone tracking down a mortgage release, title policy, etc. to at least have a chance of contacting someone who could help.
A directory of this type would be an invaluable resource for title companies, lenders, and consumers.
It would make sense for underwriters to publish a list of their agents who have gone out of business as a matter of public policy.
It would make sense for state regulators to require underwriters to publish the directories online. At least it makes sense to me.
Title companies are closing their doors at an alarming rate due to the housing meltdown, it would be prudent to hold underwriters accountable for the orphaned files and the information contained within them.
Does anyone know of a compilation of this type or have any ideas?
