Reuters had a short article dealing with HUD’s current initiative, the 2002 proposal failed due to industry pressure, to make closing costs and mortgage terms transparent to consumers.
Is it really that hard to explain a real estate deal in language that makes sense to real people? I don’t think it is.
Legislators need to worry about their constituents instead of the powerful lobbying groups that are intent on keeping consumers “in the dark” when buying or refinancing their homes.
